Why the BMP-2 is legendary in India
-
The workhorse of India's Mechanised Infantry
Inducted into the Indian Army during the 1980s, the BMP-2 gave infantry the ability to keep pace with tanks while remaining protected from enemy fire. It became the vehicle of choice for India's mechanised formations, capable of transporting troops directly into combat. -
Known in India as the "Sarath"
Manufactured under licence by Ordnance Factory Medak, the Indian version of the BMP-2 was christened Sarath, meaning "charioteer." Over the years, Sarath became one of the most recognizable military vehicles in Indian service. -
Built in India, adapted for India
The BMP-2 was more than an imported platform. Indian industry developed numerous variants including command vehicles, reconnaissance vehicles, engineer support variants, ambulance configurations, and missile carriers. This adaptability helped make it one of the most versatile vehicles in the Army's inventory. -
From deserts to mountains
Few military vehicles have operated across such a diverse range of terrain. BMP-2s have served in the scorching deserts of Rajasthan, the plains of Punjab, and high-altitude deployments in Ladakh—demonstrating remarkable adaptability. -
The companion to India's tank fleet
Wherever T-72s, T-90s, and Arjun tanks deploy, BMP-2s are often nearby. Together they form the core of India's mechanised combat formations, combining mobility, firepower, and infantry support. -
A soldier's battlefield taxi—and much more
Armed with a 30 mm cannon, machine guns, and anti-tank missiles, the BMP-2 is far more than a troop carrier. It gives mechanised infantry the ability to fight effectively while on the move, making it one of the most important force multipliers in the Indian Army. -
Decades of trusted service
While newer platforms are being developed, the BMP-2 continues to serve in large numbers, proving the durability of its design and the confidence the Army places in it.

The Making
Each Glass Collection concept starts with procuring detailed blueprints of the design and then designing the cuts on Adobe Illustrator. These drawings are then passed on to the laser which then cuts fine lines on the glass. These are then hand engraved again to a shimmering finish with brilliant clarity.
The video shown here is of the hand engraving process which follows the laser cut.
