Few aircraft can claim the title of the most successful airplane in history. The Cessna 172 Skyhawk does so quietly — not with speed or spectacle, but with reliability, trust, and an unmatched legacy. The Cessna 172 Engraved Whiskey Glass is a tribute to the aircraft that has carried millions of pilots into the sky and shaped general aviation as we know it.
Why the Cessna 172 is legendary
-
The world’s most produced aircraft
First flown in 1955, the Cessna 172 has been built in greater numbers than any other airplane in history. With over 44,000 units produced, it became the backbone of general aviation across continents. -
The airplane that does everything
Unlike pure trainers, the 172 evolved into a true all-rounder — equally at home teaching student pilots, carrying families on weekend trips, flying business hops, or serving in aerial survey and patrol roles. Many pilots learned in a 152, but grew into a 172. -
Stories of endurance and trust
One of the most famous anecdotes in aviation history is the 1960 endurance record, when a Cessna 172 stayed airborne for 64 days, 22 hours, and 19 minutes over Nevada — refuelled in mid-air from a truck driving beneath it. The aircraft eventually landed, flew again, and today hangs in the Smithsonian, a testament to its durability. -
A pilot’s first “real airplane”
For countless aviators, the 172 was the first aircraft they rented solo, the first cross-country they planned themselves, or the first airplane they ever owned. Its stability, gentle handling, and honest feedback earned it a reputation as an aircraft that builds confidence. -
Still flying, still teaching
Decades after its introduction, brand-new Skyhawks continue to roll off the production line — now with glass cockpits and modern avionics — while older models still fly daily across the world.
Why it belongs in your collection
The Cessna 172 isn’t just an airplane — it’s a companion, a teacher, and a symbol of freedom.
It has carried dreams, lessons, families, and futures — one steady flight at a time.

The Making
Each Glass Collection concept starts with procuring detailed blueprints of the design and then designing the cuts on Adobe Illustrator. These drawings are then passed on to the laser which then cuts fine lines on the glass. These are then hand engraved again to a shimmering finish with brilliant clarity.
The video shown here is of the hand engraving process which follows the laser cut.
