Quietly lethal. Technically elegant. Unfailingly precise.
The Dassault Mirage 2000 is one of the most respected fighters ever to wear Indian roundels. The Mirage 2000 Engraved Whiskey Glass pays tribute to the aircraft that combined French finesse with Indian operational excellence—and proved its worth when it mattered most.

Precision engraved in clean technical line art, this glass captures the Mirage’s unmistakable delta-wing silhouette: a fighter designed for speed, stability, and surgical accuracy.

Why the Mirage 2000 is legendary in India

  • A leap into modern air combat
Inducted in the mid-1980s, the Mirage 2000 brought a generational shift to the Indian Air Force. It was India’s first true fly-by-wire fighter, offering unprecedented control, safety, and agility—an aircraft that felt modern the moment it arrived.

  • Kargil: precision under pressure
During the 1999 Kargil conflict (Operation Safed Sagar), the Mirage 2000 became the IAF’s precision spear. Flying at high altitude in unforgiving terrain, Mirages delivered laser-guided munitions with pinpoint accuracy—neutralising hardened targets and turning the tide. Among pilots, this campaign cemented the Mirage’s reputation as the aircraft you trust when failure isn’t an option.

  • A pilot’s favourite
Ask IAF aviators and you’ll hear a recurring theme: the Mirage is “honest.” It communicates clearly, responds smoothly, and rewards disciplined flying. That confidence—especially in demanding conditions—earned it deep respect within squadrons.

  • Longevity through modernisation
Rather than retire a proven performer, India invested in a comprehensive upgrade. The Mirage 2000I/T received modern avionics, new radar, advanced weapons, and a glass cockpit—keeping the jet combat-relevant well into the 21st century. Few fighters age so gracefully.

  • A culture of excellence
Mirage squadrons developed a reputation for professionalism and precision. The aircraft’s reliability and low accident rate reinforced its image as a dependable, mission-focused platform—quietly doing the hard work without fanfare.

The Making

Each Glass Collection concept starts with procuring detailed blueprints of the design and then designing the cuts on Adobe Illustrator. These drawings are then passed on to the laser which then cuts fine lines on the glass. These are then hand engraved again to a shimmering finish with brilliant clarity.

The video shown here is of the hand engraving process which follows the laser cut.
