Why the Pushpak is legendary
India's homegrown trainer
The Pushpak was one of the earliest light aircraft to be manufactured in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. Based on the Aeronca Champion design and produced under licence, it became synonymous with elementary flight training during the formative years of Indian aviation.
For decades, it introduced countless young men and women to the fundamentals of flying.
The aircraft that trained a generation
From the 1950s onwards, the Pushpak became a familiar sight at flying clubs throughout the country. Students learned the basics of take-offs, landings, navigation, and emergency procedures in its forgiving cockpit.
Many commercial airline captains, Indian Air Force officers, naval aviators, and test pilots first experienced the thrill of taking control of an aircraft in a Pushpak.
Its greatest achievement wasn't speed or altitude—it was creating aviators.
Building Indian aviation
As India expanded its civil aviation infrastructure after Independence, the Pushpak became an essential part of the nation's flying clubs. It helped make pilot training more accessible and contributed significantly to the growth of general aviation across the country.
The aircraft's simple construction, reliable handling, and economical operation made it ideal for training schools and aero clubs.
A pilot's first love
Every experienced pilot has an aircraft they never forget.
For many Indians, that aircraft is the Pushpak.
Its responsive controls, excellent visibility, and forgiving flight characteristics made it an ideal trainer. While more advanced aircraft would follow, few left such a lasting impression on those who learned to fly in it.
An enduring legacy
Although modern trainers have largely replaced the Pushpak, its influence lives on in the thousands of pilots whose aviation journeys began in its cockpit.
It remains a cherished symbol of India's early aviation heritage and the spirit of learning that continues to inspire future generations.

The Making
Each Glass Collection concept starts with procuring detailed blueprints of the design and then designing the cuts on Adobe Illustrator. These drawings are then passed on to the laser which then cuts fine lines on the glass. These are then hand engraved again to a shimmering finish with brilliant clarity.
The video shown here is of the hand engraving process which follows the laser cut.
