-------------------------------------------------

The Supermarine Spitfire XIV, a highly iconic and successful British single-seat fighter aircraft that played a critical role in World War II, famously during the Battle of Britain. It was known for its speed and its clipped wings

The clipped-wing Spitfire XIV was a machine sharpened for the hunt. Stripped of its elegant rounded tips, its wings became lean and purposeful—built for raw speed and lightning-fast agility at low altitude. Down near the deck, where danger screamed in on the wings of the Fw 190, these Spitfires were at their deadliest. The clipped design reduced drag, sharpened the roll rate, and turned the iconic fighter into a ruthless predator, striking fast and hard before the enemy had a chance to react.

Spitfire was used only after the war and Fg Offr KC Mukherjee flew the latest Spit XIX in a 105-aircraft formation on 26 Jan 1951. However, he loved flying the “Clipped Wing” Spitfire-XIV, which was the fastest Spitfire amongst all its variants. -- As narrated by Gp Capt Samidh Mukherjee (Son of then Fg Offr KC Mukherjee)

The Making

Each Glass Collection concept starts with procuring detailed blueprints of the design and then designing the cuts on Adobe Illustrator. These drawings are then passed on to the laser which then cuts fine lines on the glass. These are then hand engraved again to a shimmering finish with brilliant clarity.

The video shown here is of the hand engraving process which follows the laser cut.
